Tarin Rice became the youngest Open trainer in history to be inducted into the Open Riders Hall of Fame. He was the 2012 NCHA Open Futurity Co-Champion on He Bea Cat, The 2014 NCHA Summer Spectacular Open Champion on MIss Callie Cat, and most recently, the 2019 NCHA Open World Champion on CR Gotcha Covered.

Scott Amos
Scott Amos of Scott Amos Cutting Horses. The word “limitations” has never been in the vocabulary of Scott Amos. Even after losing the lower portion of his left leg in a tractor accident.
Following several apprenticeships with many renowned horse trainers, Scott began his own training operation in the early 90’s. That program has now blossomed into not only a successful program for Scott and his horses, but also for numerous youth, amateur and non-pro riders. Scott was recently featured on RFD-TV’s “The Ride with Cord McCoy”, and makes regular appearances in many of the performance horse industry’s leading publications, such as the Quarter Horse News and The Cutting Horse Chatter.
$1,000,000 in NCHA earnings, Scott has become a leading trainer in the cutting horse industry. Some of his accomplishments include 4-time Western Nationals Open Champion, numerous Wyoming Open Futurity Championships and NCHA Triple Crown events finalist. Recent wins include the Open Championships at the Idaho Futurity in both the 3 year old and 5-6 year-old competitions as well.
Aaron Moses
Aaron Moses of Aaron Moses Show Horses, located in Pilot Point, Texas, specializes in Western Pleasure Futurity Horses.
Aaron, is a 13x All American Quarter Horse Congress Champion, Multiple AQHA and NSBA World Champion and he was the 2018, 2019 and 2020 NSBA High Point Open Western Pleasure Rider of the year and a member of the NSBA Quarter Million Dollar Rider Club. Aaron Moses strives to provide the top of the line in horse training and care.
Fernando Salgado
Fernando Salgado of Fernando Salgado Reining Horses. Brazilian born Fernando Salgado was raised in a performance horse family, with both of his older brothers training professionally. He had already proven himself as a successful trainer and showman in Brazil, with several prestigious wins while working for his brother Eduardo prior to coming to the US.
Fernando began his US career in 2010 when he became the first assistant trainer at the newly established Xtra Quarter Horses, home of Wimpys Little Step. Under the guidance of Thiago Boechat, he was mounted on some of the finest Reining horses in the industry, including Shiners Voodoo Dr. This
talented trainer also rode under the renowned Andrea Fappani to further his training knowledge.
Along with his wife Sabrina, the young NRHA Professional opened his own training business at Trinity Farms in Collinsville, Texas.
Matt Miller
Matt Miller of Matt Miller Cutting Horses. Miller, who currently lives in Poolville, Texas, started his cutting career like any other making his way through the Amateur and then the Non-Pro. In those early years, several horses helped shape him into the horseman he is today.
Today, he is ranked third on Equi-Stat's Up & Coming Open Cutting Rider list, with nearly $2 million in earnings since joining the Open rank.
Morgan Cromer
Morgan Cromer of Morgan Cromer Cutting Horses. Morgan Cromer's program is focused on the showing and training of quality cutting horses. Morgan travels year-round to shows all over the country and hosts clinics at her house. She offers lessons, sales and training packages for both non-pros and those interested in becoming more involved with NCHA events.
Morgan Cromer was born in Valencia, CA on October 18, 1983. Her parents, Walter and Patti Cromer, were encouraging of her love of horses (her mother being an hunter/jumper instructor). Morgan began her show career riding pony hunters, but became interested in cutting when some family friends (Kathy and Carlos Fandino) let her ride one of their cutting horses. She began working for Scott Weiss when she was 12 years old and once she graduated from high school went to work for Russ Westfall.
In 2008, Morgan went out on her own as a trainer - first in Santa Maria, CA and then finally at her own place in Templeton, CA where she currently resides.
Sam Schaffhauser
Sam Schaffhauser of Schaffhauser Performance Horses. Joining the ranks of NRHA Professional Trainers after graduating from Arkansas State University with a Bachelor of Animal Science degree, Sam has been training horses for the public for nearly 15 years and riding and showing Reiners for over 25 years.
During his early career training with his father, Sam placed in the top five of the NRHA Limited Open Futurity, the top ten of the NRHA Intermediate Open Futurity, and was a multiple NRHA top five Year End award winner. Sam was also a successful coach, training multiple NRHA World Champions and Year End top fives, NRHA Non Pro Derby finalists, Congress Limited Non Pro Reserve Futurity Champion, and multiple IBHA World Champions.
Making the bold move to join the McQuay Stables team in early 2011 in pursuit of further learning and opportunities, Sam's career quickly took off. Sam's most recent major successes include a 2016 Novice Horse Open L1 Congress Championship and 2017 NRBC Open Classic L2 top 3 and L3 top 10 finishes. Sam strives to take each horse in his care to its highest level of ability, recognizing that every horse has a unique temperament, ability, and will.
Tim Johnson
Tim Johnson of Tim Johnson Cutting Horses. Tim was born and raised in San Jose, California, Tim started working with cutting horses at the age of 10. After eleven years in the business, he found his way to Dusty, Washington to train out of Alkali Creek Ranch and start his own barn.
Tim is still located in Dusty, WA, at the ranch, but he and his clients spend a good portion of the year travelling all over the country and into Canada to compete and regional and national level cuttings. Tim has been the champion of multiple aged events all over North America, a finalist in many, and a Mercuria Open finalist. Tim has been working out of the ranch in Dusty, WA since 2008.
Tom McCutcheon
Tom McCutcheon of Tom McCutcheon Reining Horses. With over $1.9 Million Dollars in NRHA life time earnings, Tom McCutcheon is one of the all time leading trainers in the Reining industry, and comes from a long line of horse professionals.
His winning record includes 2 individual and team gold medals at the World Equestrian Games, NRBC Open Derby Champion, multiple major event futurity and derby championships and was named the USET Equestrian of the Year, just to name a few.
Also involved in the development of reining, Tom is a cofounder of and Chairman on the Board of Directors of the National Reining Breeders Classic.
